I've been collecting American Girl dolls for a little while now, and my great-niece has a couple of them, too (at this time I have 19). When my mother died, I ended up with her car, which she had piled a bunch of her clothes into. I didn't want to throw all these things out, since some were brand new with tags, but I didn't want them for myself. I've been going through them to see which ones I can use to make doll clothes, as I have lots of patterns for 18" dolls. I found a t-shirt in the prettiest shade of green, and I used my Heritage Ruffled T-Shirt Dress pattern from Liberty Jane to make this cute little dress for Brooklyn. I ordered her a pair of lime green high top cons to go with it. So cute!! I forgot to put the shoes on my Nellie while she was so politely modeling the dress for me. But that's okay, since she loves boots! LOL!!

I lurk around a lot of digi scrap sites. And occasionally I participate in a challenge or two, but it's been quite a while since I was inspired enough to just jump in and scrap. Actually, it's been almost a year. It was just before Thanksgiving last year when I found out my mother only had a short time to live, and I spent the last 2 1/2 months of her life with her as much as possible. Since she passed in January, I just haven't been very creative.

But today I was trolling around at Scrappity-Doo-Dah and came upon the Bird Cage challenge for October 16-31. The designer for this part of the month is LiseteScrap, and she has provided the cutest little mini kit to create with! The challenge requires that all pieces of the kit be used in your layout. If you need a fab mini to scrap Halloween photos with, jump over to Scrappity-Doo-Dah and check out this challenge. You won't be disappointed! Here's my layout I created with this wonderful freebie. At 4:32 am on Sunday, January 17, 2010, I lost my sweet little Mother to her battle with lung cancer. I held her hand and told her I loved her with her last breath.

It's so hard to watch your loved ones slowly slip away from you due to a horrible disease.

She loved her little dog, Bandit, dearly. He has lived with her for over 12 years. Now he lives with me.
I'll miss my Mother forever, but I'm so thankful that she is no longer in pain.

Other Supplies: 3D Crystal Lacquer, Stickles gold, red, and green glitter glue, 18 kt. Gold Leafing Pen, Artistic Wire, Straw Paper Wire, raffia, Micro Beads, Prima paper flower, Making Memories square and round gold brads, silk leaves, and tree stick for the stems.

Did this to myself at work the other day! Mashed my hand between two rollers going in opposite directions at 1200 rpms! If I hadn't jerked it out with my other hand almost the second it happened, it could actually have popped the end of my finger off, instead of just having to put 10 stitches in it. Didn't break anything either, but it sure felt like it, and is still sore. Doctors said it was just severely bruised. Swelled up twice as big as this the first night, and then the stitches on the left side tried to pop open. If it isn't one thing, it's always another, isn't it? !!

New Layout!

November 17th was my adorable little great-niece's second birthday. Her home is in Atlanta, but my sister has thrown her a magnificent party here for the last two years. This year she had a "Wiggles" themed party. My sister went online and bought all sorts of things from ebay and carried them around in her car for weeks! LOL!! She also booked clowns and a magic act, and of course, someone was there in a Wiggles dog suit. All the kids had a great time, but Brooklyn wasn't very keen on the idea of having her face painted. She didn't like the feel of it on her face at all!

Doghouse Blues

We have five dogs at our house, four of which are rescued dogs. Josie is one of the rescued ones. I was driving home from work one day, when I found her sitting in the middle of the road on the top of Buffalo Mountain. Someone had dropped her off up there. She's the only dog I have ever allowed to stay inside my house, and Saturday morning Danielle burst into my room wanting to know if I could fix her basketball warm up pants. Josie had chewed the whole zipper off one leg, plus torn a hole in her comforter she bought about three weeks ago. Fiberfill was all over her room! Needless to say, Danielle is still pretty upset at her. I haven't been able to find out if I can replace her pants. There's definitely no hope for fixing them!! LOL!! Gotta have a sense of humor when you have animals!!

Shelley, my beautiful, free-spirited, oldest daughter was diagnosed with chronic leukemia (cml) on October 08, 2008. I can't even begin to describe all the different emotions I feel right now. But the strongest one is that I wish I could make it all better for her. I would gladly trade places with her and take this on in her place. Shelley has always been the child that I didn't have to worry about. She's always been very independent, but scared of everything. She's the only person I know who's afraid of butterflies and moths!! I am so very worried about her right now. Her doctors are confused as to why she is in the early stage of this disease, yet they are having a hard time getting her white blood cell count to come down. The day she was admitted into the hospital, her white cell count was 340,000. The normal count should be 12,000. During the 12 days she was in the hospital, her count went up as high as 410,000. She is currently taking two different kinds of chemo pills-a total of 10 pills a day-just chemo. She also has to take iron and potassium pills, along with baby aspirin and some others that escape me at the moment. Normally 22-24 pills a day. The only reason she was even diagnosed right now is because her spleen was enlarged twenty times the normal size it should have been. She was loosing weight, but her stomach was getting larger-the result of the enlarged spleen. Some days just the smell of food made her sick, and she couldn't even finish a whole sandwich. She had been feeling like this for about a month, and the Wednesday she was admitted, she went to the doctor and they sent her straight to the hospital for a CT scan. No immediate member of my family has ever had cancer, and I just feel at a loss right now, not knowing why her body did this. All I can do is make sure she gets the best care possible and help keep her spirits up. I know she WILL beat this. All of her aunts, uncles, cousins, and some of her friends have already volunteered to get tested to see if they are a bone marrow match for her, since that is actually the only cure for it. The chemo pills are only to get it into remission. But from all the research we have done on the internet, the closest match she should have is her sister, Danielle, who gladly volunteered her's, too. She is very much loved, and I don't think she really realized how much until this happened to her. Here are some photos of her during her hospital stay. She had some pretty awesome doctors and nurses.

I did this brag book page for my oldest daughter, Shelley. She went through a goth phase, and I thought she might like to see how much she has changed over the years. She is so totally different now. But beautiful, no matter what "phase" she is in! LOL!!
